In any event, love the controller, love it. 893 175K views 7 years ago The unboxing and quick test of the Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol S88. I actually found the action lighter and more responsive than the N1, but that should not be a surprise, because you have to have jackhammer fingers to use that controller. So many weighted action keyboards are actually not weighted properly at all, they show little heft. I suppose it’s effectively a Korg D1 without the piano engine, then add 400 for Komplete integration and the color key guides. It must be the only 1000+ hammer-action keyboard on the market that doesn’t have an integrated sound generator. While some may have found the key action of keyboard itself heavy, I actually loved it. They are lovely (both, really) The S88 is an unusual number. I actually have been using a Korg N1 for years, probably the “weightiest” of the weighted action keyboards. It’s NI’s answer to many a musician’s demand for a full-sized hammer-action keyboard controller that plays like a grown-up piano. The A series doesn't have great feeling keys (from what I heard) so the S series seems like the logical (yet pricey) upgrade.
